Oolloo Crossing is one of the NT government’s conservation areas. At times you may be able to cross the Daly River at Oolloo Crossing. Once you have crossed the river, access to the property on the opposite bank is prohibited.
The crossing is a good spot to fish for barramundi with a plenty of dead trees providing shelter for these predatory fish. I have seen small tinnies being launched below the crossing.

As such the road into the campsites has become very overgrown and many of the campsites are no longer usable. However for those that are seeking a great bush camp experience the camp spots that are still open are incredible
The Douglas Daly Research Farm is just over 3,000ha in size and is owned by the NT Government. Situated on the farm is the point were the Douglas River flows into the Daly River, and this peninsula of steep-banked riverine bush is available for bush camping and exploring.
Douglas River Esplanade Conservation Area (The Arches)
The Douglas River cuts through limestone to form an arch and some spectacular rock caves and formations.
It is a good spot to spend an hour or so exploring the rocks and just enjoying the river.
Natural thermal hot springs that bubble out of the Douglas River’s sandy riverbed.
The thermal vents are found at various points along the riverbed over a 200–300m stretch of river, and they vary in temperature from tepid to scalding hot.
Gun Point peninsula is situated between the Howard and Adelaide rivers just to the east of Darwin
This is a fun 4WD track however it does entail driving on the beach or on tracks just behind the dunes. It also makes for a great day trip from Darwin. A track that should be accessible to most 4X4’s

Hardies 4x4 track is located in the Mary River National Park, NT, Australia. The track provides access to both Hardies lagoon and Corroboree billabong. Large amount of birds, game and crocodiles can be found on the track. This blog provides a brief overview of the main obstacles and the track in general.
