Oolloo Crossing: Oolloo Road, Douglas Daly

Oolloo Crossing is one of the NT government’s conservation areas. At times you may be able to cross the Daly River at Oolloo Crossing. Once you have crossed the river, access to the property on the opposite bank is prohibited.

The crossing is a good spot to fish for barramundi with a plenty of dead trees providing shelter for these predatory fish. I have seen small tinnies being launched below the crossing.

Butterfly Gorge. Oolloo Road, Douglas Daly

Butterfly Gorge

A spectacular, and in my opinion, a hidden gem in the Northern Territory – make the effort and explore this gorge

The Douglas River has cut a deep, narrow gorge through a low, sandstone plateau. A cathedral-like atmosphere has been created, with towering, shear, cliff-faces of red and yellow rock, which aeons of wet season rain has polished at their base to a smooth, reflective surface.
